THE SECRET HISTORY OF MY UNIVERSITY LIFE

THE SECRET HISTORY OF MY UNIVERSITY LIFE
Everyone has a different story about their university life. We have those who enjoy and those who do not it all depends.
Changing the environment and trying to cope up with it and new people is  among the hardest things in life. September 2018 was the month and the year where I had to cope with my new life. Finding new friends was so hard now that I was an introvert. The only friends I had were my roommates and the environment itself was hell now that I was from Western and everything is totally different from Mombasa. "Joto ya Mombasa nayo" was too much. Imagine bathing four times a day because of the hot environment.
"Just work hard and go to the university there is no reading" when I remember this words I feel like beating someone. I realized in matters to do with education it's very hectic all those assignments and yet you have to balance it with social life like going to the beach and all other sorts of activities. Waking up very early because I have to attend a class at seven and worst of all having three classes per day so I have to sit up to five. When they said is not a must to attend classes but I was shocked now that each day we had to sign. "Ati ukiboeka na class unaweza toka" don't try this because some lectures will never allow you to attend their classes again. Worst of all students being expelled because of copying exams or being suspended for years. Someone would have just told me the truth instead of lying that life in campus is fun.
I also learnt to interact with students from different parts of the country. I learnt to live with many people and understand everyone. I learnt not to judge people especially on how they are living. I interacted with those with different social lives. For example those who are used to drugs, parties and everything that deals with enjoyment. The sleepover people and "watu hawakosi form"every weekend. Those who are never in there rooms every weekend it's either they've gone clubbing or in someone's else room.
Hugging became a habit whereby free hugs are available everywhere. You even meet someone you don't know and you're forced to hug them even those you don't vibe but it seems I'll miss this. Our lunch more so ladies " juo na viazi" in student's centre and "tatu pojo in Mambuzi and comrades the famous hotels loved by students. This being the cheapest food we can afford. But one thing I loved and still love is " viazi vya waswahili" it became a habit and part of my lifestyle at the university a day never ends without tasting them. As  others became addicted in drugs I became addicted in them. Memes is also part of lifestyle whereby we go online to look for memes, laugh and post them. Memes became a way of consoling even those who are going through hell. "Kuachwa na mtawachana" became a common thing and many were prepared in their relationships. I think I'll beat myself when I forget to mention when I was arrested by policemen if it wasn't for my friend I'll would have collapsed

Students running from Tudor to Mushomoroni during strikes I once did this and terms such as a comrade is always right, comrades "tibim" and let's meet tomorrow at graduation square this were the signs of a strike. The favourite places of the few "manyani" great things happen there for those who go there. I think I should visit that place at night. I came to realise that being broke is real when I had to manage funds. Life is not easy to manage yourself now that there is no one to guide you. Someone used to say "utasota hadi utamani kurudi kwenu" ask and I'll write a book about this. I can't forget my stupid friends as I call them without them life can never be interesting my numerous boyfriends and girlfriends and the funny ones.
I also learnt many things how to manage my time wisely and finances now that it was just me and me and also learnt to appreciate the little I had now that some were forced to defer due to lack of school fees but here I am in my final lap. It has been a journey full of ups and downs but I thank everyone for there support especially my parents, friends and the Almighty and my relatives but I won't forget to thank the one who is going to read this. I also thank my lectures because they have helped me gained some skills and joining the university has given me a lot of exposure. All in all life here can never be explained it is just there like me
